Brief
Powdered milk is made from cattle milk, goat milk and other mammal’s milk as raw material, processed by sterilization, cream separation (depends on workflow configuration), concentrate and dry into powder, which is portable and preservative.

Up to now, the powdered milk has developed into wide range with different uses. Generally speaking, powdered milk is divided into whole milked powder, skimmed milk, and milk with a variety of formulas. The best seller is all kinds of special infant formula powdered milk. Basic production methods are similar, but the device configuration and processing material are great different.
Production system
Generally speaking, powdered milk processing are included raw material receiving, pre-treating, concentrating, drying and packing procedures. In practice, there are included CIP and energy consumption supplying.
1. Raw material collectingMilk is collected from every dairy farm, which is filtered, degassed, cooled and then stored in the milk tank. Generally speaking, everyday collect milk once, it means the milk storage tank is enough for one day’s production.
2. PretreatmentFresh milk pretreatment is included sterilization, cream separation, homogenization and emulsification.
In order to ensure the health, before pre-treating milk, it should be sterilized. Sterilization usually by pasteurization machine, you can also use ultra-high temperature sterilization, UHT milk, but the nutrition loss a lot.
After sterilization, depends on product’s requirement, make the separation of fresh milk. Separated cream can directly provided to other food processing industries, such as bread ,cakes production and be other further processed to anhydrous butter.
By cream separation, homogenization and emulsification, before milk be further processed prior to its formulation, to ensure consistent quality of products and has a variety of special nutrients, such as infant formula powdered milk and elder powdered milk and so on.
3. ConcentrationIn order to reduce the investment, conserve energy, before drying milk, it is necessary to concentrate the milk. Depends on milk’s character, concentration is apply to multi-effect falling film evaporator.
Multi-effect falling evaporator is new kind of concentrating machine, depends on different of configuration, in theory, 1kg of steam can evaporate 3-5kg water. In practice it is slightly lower.
Relative to drying equipment, evaporators with low price, low plant investment and conserve energy and so on advantages.
4. DryConcentrated milk need be dried into powder. Usually apply to spray dry. Old equipment with low investment, due to the solubility of the products as pressure. Modern powdered technology already widely use in pressure spray dryer.
Dry heating system can be separated from other heating system, in order to increase production and reduce energy consumption.
